A couple weeks ago I was asked to produce a thirty second spot for UT’s Relay for Life. The American Cancer Society promotes the event every year, and this year they wanted to use Tennessee’s point guard Melvin Goins. The idea for the shoot was pretty simple. Have Melvin interact with cancer survivors and deliver a few lines about the event. Once shoot day came, I grabbed Eric and Chaney (two of our student workers who make life around here much easier), my 7D, a couple lights, and we headed down to Thompson-Boling Arena.
It was awesome working with the talent at the shoot. They were truly an inspiration. Three of the four were survivors, while one little boy named Jacob had just begun his therapy. He had a blast on the shoot and had Melvin sign his actual back! Melvin is a great guy and I admire him for doing the shoot. Here is the finished commercial.
Friday October 29, 2010 – Crossfit Knoxville held a Halloclean party at the gym to celebrate Halloween and get in a nice little workout. Unfortunately of all the people that showed up in their costumes, Brian and I were the only ones who wanted to do the workout. I guess the free beer was more enticing than the pain.
WOD:
3 Rounds
7 reps Bear Complex 95# ( 1 rep= Clean, front thruster, back thruster)
10 pullups
400m run
Posted the top time of the day in my baggage handler gear at 9:38.
Recently I participated in and shot Barbells for Boob’s “Amazing Grace” fundraiser to benefit Mammograms in Action at Crossfit Knoxville. The CrossFit community’s first cause to benefit women and all the CrossFitters who love them. As you can see from the video everyone had a really good time hurting for a great cause. It was run-and-gun shooting all night. I did my workout in the last group and set a PR at 2:44. That was almost 3 minutes faster than my previous time when the workout was done back in April.
Picked up a GoPro today and took it for a spin. Made the mistake of mounting it on my bars and the footage is super shaky. Next time it’s going on the helmet. Doug, the guy riding in front, was kind enough to ride slow today and allow me to keep up with him so I could test the camera. Nice (lame) crash at 1:40.
The Volunteers led Oregon 6-0 when Neyland Stadium was hit by a torrential downpour. There were over 100 lightning strikes within the vicinity of the stadium in 30 minutes. Here is a behind the scenes look from the video board control rooms.
